WBCC 1st XI have been promoted back to Division B after another comprehensive victory over a potential promotion rival, this time Fiskerton & Thurgarton.
Following on from their victories over Hucknall II and Caythorpe IIs in recent weeks a 9 wicket victory on a flat Stamford Road track was enough to seal promotion with two games to spare.
Fiskerton & Thurgarton won the toss and elected to bat first but were dealt an early blow when their top run scorer Colin Cliff was dismissed for just 7 runs caught behind by Geoff Curtis off the bowling of Chris Watkins.
The attempts at steadying the ship were dealt further blows when Alex Sheriston had Max Danby caught with the score on 43 and Watkins struck again to dismiss Dan Jones 13 runs later.
Enter Stuart Plant! The left arm spinner has made a real impact since signing from the Cheshire League and before long his rich vain of form continued as he tore through the Fisk/Thur batting line up to claim 6-21 in 12.2 overs.
The opposition's score of 115 was not likely to cause the WBCC batting line up much worry and so it proved to be the case as they cantered to the winning post with Ally Pettit (38*) and Ben Shaw (50*) sealing things in 18.3 overs.
14 points are now required to claim a Division C title that is richly deserved by a team that have dominated the division since a shock loss and wake up call on May 6th.
